Water
Infrared light creates zones of charge differential in water which drive critical cellular functions in the body. This energy is constantly being used and needs to be resupplied. When insufficient amounts of infrared are absorbed, intracellular water becomes less biologically available and dehydration occurs. The role of the Thera-Tree® is to provide an infrared energy source essential to recharging the “water battery" within the body. This additional energy is beneficial for overall metabolic wellness and aids healing.
In considering the ‘energetic' properties of the SmartRide Rx technology and its correlation with significant improvements in the performance, pain relief and broad scope of overall wellness of horses who have worn his technology, Tad has looked to water: the common denominator of all biological systems. This investigation led him to the work of Dr. Gerald Pollack, the world’s leading authority on "fourth phase water" which is best described as a liquid crystalline state which has a series of properties including structure and charge differential that are integral to hydration and therefore to the body's ability to function efficiently on a cellular level across all systems. It is also a key to our understanding of phenomena associated with water that have eluded explanation up until now.
To understand more about infrared light and water, see the work of Gerald H. Pollard, PhD with “fourth phase water,” also known as “structured water.” Dr. Pollack is Professor of Bioengineering at University of Washington and you can learn more at www.pollacklab.com.

What Is The Forgotten Side of Water?
~A Midwestern Doctor writes on Substack:
“One of the fascinating things about science is that while it is an excellent tool for discerning the nature of reality, it will simultaneously refuse to look at data with implications that challenge the existing scientific orthodoxy. So an unfortunate situation is created where science advances knowledge to a point but then reverses polarities and paradoxically becomes a barrier to that advancement.
An excellent illustration of this dynamic can be seen with water, and as a result, many of its properties are relatively unknown. One of the most important properties is that provided ambient infrared energy is present in the environment and a polar surface exists, water can assume a semi-solid state where it behaves like a liquid crystalline structure. Since a significant portion of the water within the body is in the liquid crystalline state, the biological consequences of this water, in my eyes, represent a key forgotten side of medicine.
In the first part of this series, I discussed the long lineage of scientists who have studied this semi-solid form of water, followed by listing some of the key properties of this gel-like 4th phase of water and what causes it to form. Since it has been studied by so many, it has many names (e.g., interfacial water or EZ water) and hereafter will be referred to as liquid crystalline water, which I believe is the most accurate description for it.”

Regarding “Zeta Potential” & Circulation:
“The second key factor governing flow in the body is liquid crystalline water, something observed by many throughout the centuries and scientifically quantified by Gerald Pollack. When water has a negatively charged surface and a source of ambient energy (which is typically infrared light—something all around us and also constantly produced by the body), water will transition from free H2O to a connected network of H3O2 that behaves like a semisolid and is best described as a liquid crystal.
Since hydrogen atoms need to be removed from the liquid crystalline water to make this transition occur (H3O2 is H1.5O2, not H2O), they are found in a high concentration near the H3O2. Conversely, since the H3O2 has a semisolid structure, it will push everything else out and not allow anything to pass through it (leading to its boundary often being referred to as an “exclusion zone”). This includes the displaced hydrogens, which in contrast to the negatively charged H3O2 carry a positive charge.
There are a variety of significant effects of liquid crystalline water. First and foremost, it creates much of the structure and stability of the body all the way down to the insides of each cell. Secondly, it creates barriers that allow each surface within the body to slide frictionlessly against each other, protects cells from external damage, and maintains cellular integrity by preventing things from passing throughout. The lining of your blood vessels (the endothelium—which is coated with liquid crystalline water), for example, requires all of these to function, and one of the reasons the spike protein is so damaging is because of its ability to penetrate the protective layer which covers the endothelium. Lastly, it functions as an energy source that facilitates a variety of physiologic functions.
One of the most important functions of liquid crystalline water is that when it surrounds normal water as a tube, it creates spontaneous motion of that water from one end of the tube to the other. Many different organisms depend on a vast number of fluid movements inside of them. Still, in many cases, there is either no identified source for that motion, or the postulated source cannot account for all the motion observed. However, in each case where it is possible to assess the fluid vessel in question, a lining of liquid crystalline water is found surrounding it, and the vessel is structured so that the direction of flow of liquid crystalline water would be expected to create is what is observed.
For all of these reasons, I believe liquid crystalline water is a primary driver of fluid movement within the body. Conversely, I believe poor zeta potential is one of the primary obstacles to fluid movement in the body.”

Confirming SmartRide Rx Technology &
Fourth Phase/Liquid Crystalline Water
Tad enlisted the help of professional research scientist and consultant Lynda Bell, who has a cross-disciplinary background, formerly working as a Senior Scientist for NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, and most recently as a Civil Servant Physical Scientist for the National Park Service’s Water Resource Division in Fort Collins, CO, as the National Sea Level Specialist and NOAA partnership liaison for the branch. She has educational and research background in geophysics, marine and estuarine environmental science, as well as physical oceanography.
Lynda said “From everything I have observed with my background as a professional research scientist, I believe this is a viable hypothesis, with real and intriguing results. From this, I have begun designing a cross-disciplinary research project with the focus of formulating an integrated research plan. By exploring this hypothesis through a robust investigative approach, an effort is being made to more fully understand the properties of both the saddle technology and the nature of the changes to water influenced by this technology."
In 2019, Tad and Kelly, along with Lynda, were able to meet with Dr. Pollack in his lab in Seattle, Washington—a rare and exceptional opportunity considering that Dr. Pollack is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal, WATER, and an international leader in science and engineering, recipient of the 2008 University of Washington Faculty Lecturer Award, and the 2012 recipient of the coveted Prigogine Medal for thermodynamics of dissipative systems. Pollack is a Founding Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering and a Fellow of both the American Heart Association and the Biomedical Engineering Society. He recently received an NIH Director’s Transformative R01 Award for his work on water and maintains an active laboratory in Seattle in addition to acting as Executive Director of the Institute for Venture Science whose mission is to accelerate discovery and challenge fundamental claims of how nature works.
Lynda said, “Dr. Pollack was very engaged with the observations and demonstrations we shared with him. He stopped the presentation several times with deep and thoughtful questions clearly showing the connections he was making between our results and those he had observed in his experiments with structured water. At one point in the discussion, Dr. Pollack offered the possibility of some collaboration with his lab, something he rarely offers. He then invited me to come to UW on behalf of TCPS with the goal of furthering research and discovery on the effects of Tad’s technology on water.”
Dr. Pollack stated that Tad’s discovery is “something really important” which warrants further investigating and also included an invitation to submit an abstract for a poster presentation to the International 2019 Water Conference on the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology of Water, held in Bad Soden, Germany from October 24 – 27. He mentioned that Tad’s presentation would be an excellent submission to the conference.
